Well she also in the beginning denied saying she was in support of vouchers, and she
has now came out strongly for them, she has put out nasty ads that are out right
fabrications, When Miklos put out bad information on an issue he put out a statement
saying so and retracted it. When she was called on hers she stood behind the lie with
no facts to back it up,, I'm not inclined to believe much from her at this point.

This Weds night the DACED will be holding it's General Membership meeting for the
month of October.
Due to Early-Voting, the meeting this month will start at 7:30 PM
It'll be one of the last Democratic Club meetings held before Election Day, so the
program will be "Focus on the Candidate" Any Candidate or their Representative is
welcome to Participate. Hopefully, we'll see many of you there.
As Early-voting continues, let's all make sure our family, friends, and co-workers all
get to the polls to cast their ballots. Our GOTV efforts have the numbers looking good,
but the turn-out can always be better. And come next week, Dallas County will not
only remain a Democratic stronghold, But we'll have a Blue Texas as well.

I think they under estimated the power of the Democratic Grass Roots efforts in our
area to turn out our voters... The lies they are spinning aren't working so they are
calling in Karl Rove,, in little Mesquite Texas, we should be flattered.
And let me say -- Hell no she's not qualified. Unless being a pro at the Republican art
of lying and puppeteering is what it takes, if so she's got that all wrapped up.

No Tim not today, Robert Miklos is the real deal , he isn't just a politician, and not just
a Democrat, he a great leader that did great things in the 2 years he has been in
office, a bad thing happened last night, and we have to live with the consequences of
that.
I know it baffles me, they Re-Elected Linda Harper-Brown, they Re-Elected Joe Driver,
so basically they are saying , we don't care if you steal our money,, as long as you are
Republican you're in,,, its insane,,,,

I have no doubt we could, but if we still continue on as we have we'd lose it 2 years
after that. A 4 to 6 year plan is what we need to work on. That way we really can turn
Texas Blue without having to wait till the Latino population grows to political viability
to do it for us.
It does not take a genius to realize that Latinos in Texas are more likely to be
Democratic than Rep. or Ind. I do not agree with some ideas out there in the political
wilderness that Texas Democrats should just wait till we have a natural population
shift and the inevitable political change that would come with it.
I do not want a situation where we switch State Reps. every 2 Years. And that's
what's gonna happen if we continue on the path we're on now. A 4 to 6 year plan to
win and retain the seat long-term is what is needed.

Thanks David, even though we lost we learned alot. Today is a new day and we'll get
back to work on what's important. The next two years is going to be hard. If we are to
regain and retain the seats we lost. And then grow our party's position here in Texas.
I think we need to study this election and see what changes in our tactics need to be
made.

respectfully disagree on ALL of the above, except maybe the flat tax, and getting rid
of the IRS, Fannie and Freddie probably wouldn't hurt my feelings too much either, see
we don't disagree on EVERYTHING ;)

I am challenging CIndy Burkett to please remember when she takes office in January
to serve with the integrity that Robert Miklos has served with and although she has
failed to acknowledge it thus far, she is serving a very diverse community with a wide
range of political views, and her actions in office should be a reflection of that
I challenge her to be what she was elected to be, a representative of the People, not
to the KARL ROVE Money that got her there. Because if she don't she can expect us
to be on her phone line, or on her office steps holding her accountable. She has big
shoes to fill, and stuffing the toes with fluff won't cut it.

I fear you are probably right on what the outcome will be, but even if it doesn't seem
the White house is fighting, I refuse to sit it out and let them have it, and I thank you

I have a pastor friend that is trying to raise $200 to help a single mother with 4
children in our community that is a few short days from being evicted, and to turn
their electricity back on, It breaks my heart to think about how cold these kids are, I
know I have friends with big hearts, I know times are tough and so...me can't help, but
if you are able to help send me a message and I will get you in touch with them..

Terri and Marc, Thank you both for thinking of me to nominate for KTB volunteer of
the month. I looked at the nomination form, and I think it's not something I fill out. I
think it's done by the people who are nominating me.
But here is some information about me. I have lived in Mesquite 20 Years, I have been
with KMB for 5 years, I really enjoy that we have a working board, I try to participate in
as many projects and events that I can be helpful in. Trash Bash and the Outdoor
Classrooms are probably my top two favorites. I take my camera to all the events I
participate and make sure I get lots of pictures that we can use in press releases,
promotional material, our brochure, whatever we do to promote KMB. I care very
much about our community and think being a part of KMB allows me to improve it for
everyone.

The DACED Christmas Party will be this Thrusday evening 7:PM -10:PM at La Quinta
Inn 118 E US-HWY 80 E, Mesquite, TX 75149 (intersection of HWY 80 & Beltline) on
the second floor. There is no cost to attend, But just like last year, Our club has
adopted a family in need from the Mesquite Social Services. The family is described
as a Single-Parent (Mother) with 9 Children -- Yes 9 -- ranging from 2 months to 15
years old. I look forward to seeing many of you there.
Since this is the busy Holiday Season, we do not have a club meeting in December,
our Next DACED meeting is will be on January 29, 2011 No program/speaker has
been decided on as-of-yet.
At our last meeting (Nov. 17) we held our Club Election, I want to Thank all of you who
participated in it, and for choosing to Re-Elect your leadership team for another year.
It was a good election, but we overlook one thing, -- we did not vote on the position
Parliamentarian. When we meet again in January we will take care of that bit of
business. I hope that Cindy Smethie will come back for another year in the position.

Today the North Texas DREAM Team, an organization of DFW college students and
their supporters who advocate for the passage of the DREAM Act, will hold a prayer
vigil outside the Dallas office of TX Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison on Mon. afternoon
to bring attention to the DREAM Act. This legislation that would bring resolution to the
lives of over 2 million undocumented young adults and children in the U.S.
The vigil will be held at 3:30 PM @ 10440 N. Central Expressway, Suite 1160, Dallas,
Texas 75231
For those of you who are unfamilar with the about The DREAM Act, it is :
The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act would provide
certain undocumented students (who graduate from U.S. high schools, who are of
good moral character, arrived in the U.S. as minors, and have been in the country
continuously for at least five years prior to the bill’s enactment) the opportunity to
earn conditional permanent residency. The undocumented students would obtain
temporary residency for a six-year period. Within that period, a qualified student
must have acquired a degree from an institution of higher education in the U.S. or
have completed at least two years, in good standing, in a program for a bachelor’s
degree or higher degree in the U.S., or have served in the uniformed services for at
least two years and, if discharged, have received an honorable discharge.

Democratic friends, This is not the time to start feeding on each other or our
President, that is what Republicans do not us, we are better than that. You can
respectfully disagree, as an activist I expect nothing less than you to voice your
approval or disapproval of our leadership, but some of the things I have read lately
from our side is just as scary as some of the things I have heard from the Tea Party.

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas last week, I also wish you all a great New
Year's Eve tonight.
As 2010 ends and we enter the new year, we have experienced and learned much.
Most of what we had hoped for this year did not happen. But we are still standing, and
are looking forward to the challenges 2011 has in store for us.
I want to thank each of you for all the hard work, phone calls, Walking, and late nights
that you put in these past twelve months. It is because of you that DACED is as strong
and Respected as it is. Thank you.
Our club did not have a December meeting, But that does not mean we we're not
active. During this month we participated in 3 Balch Springs events, one Holiday
festival on Dec 4 and a Holiday Parade & Winter Bazaar on Dec 11. We enjoyed good
exposure in Balch Springs from these 3 events. And as always, we held our
Democratic Social at Panera Bread each Sat. morning (and we'll be there tomorrow).
In the New Year, many of us will be participating in the Mesquite Relay for Life, by
being a member of Team Miklos. The Team will be accepting people and donations
all the way up to Relay day in May. The Kick-off day for the Mesquite Relay will be
January 13. Everyone is welcomed to come and help kick it off. If you are interested
in participating on Team Miklos please contact Shannon or Susie.
Our next club meeting will be on January 26, and with the new year comes club
Dues, which are a minimum of $12.00 (suggested $20.00)

The shooting of US Rep. Giffords is a terrible act of Political violence, and the person
or persons responsible should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the Law.
MSNBC reporting she is in surgery at a local hospital.
No doubt that an attempted Murder of a sitting member of the US Congress by a
Domestic terrorist is a High Crime.
Whoever the Tuscon Police have taken into custody in regards to this Crime, should
be presumed innocent until proven otherwise in a court of Law.

I won't place blame with anyone for what happened in AZ, but I will hope that their
lives were not in vain, that perhaps maybe some of the political rhetoric will be scaled
back to merely political debate and not words of hate or call...s for civil disobedience,
at some point people have got to see that enough is enough, there are crazy people
out there trust me I talk to them every day. I will hope that all of our leaders and
people that have chosen to put themselves in the political spotlight know that words
do have consequences and witty rhetoric for some can be misinterpreted by others
as calls to action...
"What we need in the United States is not division; what we need in the United States
is not hatred; what we need in the United States is not violence and lawlessness, but
is love and wisdom, and compassion toward one another, and a feeling of justice
toward those who still suffer within our country," my favortie part of this speech

Wales, 60 in Spain, 194 in Germany, 200 in Canada and 9,484 in the United States

Yea this is true but when we hand them out to mentally disturbed people what do we
expect ,,,
And seriously why does ANYONE outside of law enforcement NEED to own a assault
rifle?
I think you might be slightly passionate about this one,, I am not against guns all the
way around, the point was that the statistics were interesting to me, no I don't think
guns are all bad I don't think we should take guns away from everyone, I just think
that we should have tighter laws on who has access to certain types of weapons..
The statistics I think the article said came from BBC and the National Rifle
association. and yes I know what an assault rifle is and that there are many different
rifles that are categorized like that.

For those that have been asking for information on how to contact Ms Burkett, we
have confirmation from her office she will not likely have an office in the district for
several months. Yes we know Rep Miklos had his open and staffed by the first of
February when he was elected, but we have to face the reality that we were just
blessed to have Robert when we got him and we were nieve to expect the same level
of commitiment to the district as Rep Miklos showed on day 1. So to contact her
office you will have to go through the Austin office.

Not two weeks have passed since New Years Day, and so much has already
happened this year.
On the 1st, Dallas County became an ever more deeper Blue with the swearing-in of
a Democratic County Judge, County Commissioner, and several Judges. But
although our party made gains here in Dallas. We have lost control of of the U.S.
House with the gavel being passed to the new Republican majority on Jan 5. Then
yesterday, with the opening of the 82nd session of the Texas legislature with a
Republican majority so large, that I can barely begin to imagine what we can expect
to come out of Austin in the next 140 days.
And finally, this past Saturday in Tuscon Arizona, the horrific assassination attempt
on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and murder of six others, which included
Seniors, a Federal Judge, and a 9-year-old child. A terrible occurrence for our nation,
that has a very long history of similar terrible occurrences. I Pray for those who were
lost, and for the quick recovery of the wounded.
Now, as father time moves us ever forward, we have a General meeting this month to
look forward to. It's on Jan. 26. Our Speaker will be Mesquite Asst. City Mgr. Jerry
Dittman. He will be giving us a Presentation on the Mesquite transit initiative
(Light-Rail) I look very forward to his talk, I'm sure it will be very informative.
Also, since it is the New Year, it is time to renew Club Dues. Dues are a minimum of
$12.00 ($20.00 Suggested) Please be sure to renew your membership, without it, you
won't be able to vote on items brought before the Club to be voted on.. Thank you.
Besides this month's meeting we have many other goings-on that you may be
interested in attending ---
Tomorrow evening (Jan. 13th) is the Kick-off of the 2011 Mesquite Relay for Life at
7:00 PM in the Resource room, next to El Chico at Town East Mall, everyone is invited
to come and help with the launch of this year's Mesquite Relay. Our club has a
Team participating in this year's event. It's is called Team Miklos, and anyone who
would like to become apart of the Team is welcome to come and join. Please contact
Shannon Long or Susie Hess if you are interested.
On Sunday (Jan. 16th) Fr. Balch Springs Mayor Cedric Davis will be holding a MLK Day
event 7:00 PM at the Balch Springs Public Library 12450 Elam Rd. Balch Springs, TX
75180 Everyone is invited to attend, attire is Dress, so let's arrive like were on the
Red Carpet !!
An Executive committee meeting for the Club will be held at DACED Vice-President
Fernando Rojas's house the evening of January 17th
President Obama's State of the Union will be Tuesday January 25th.@ 7:00 PM. Club
member Liz Walley has been gracious enough, to open up her home that evening for

The Dallas County East Democrats (DACED) meets at Martinez Restaurant 901 Gross
Rd. in Mesquite 75149 every last Weds of the month. Networking starts at 6:00 PM
